Kintsugi Workshop: The Beauty in Imperfection

Break something. Make something beautiful. Discover a new way to see imperfection.

What if the places where we've cracked are meant to be honored, not hidden?

Join us for a unique, hands-on workshop inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, where imperfections become part of the beauty rather than something to conceal.

You'll intentionally break and repair a ceramic bowl, highlighting its cracks with gold paint. But this experience is about more than creating art. It's an opportunity to explore how we relate to our own imperfections, challenges, and experiences of change.

Along the way, we'll explore Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy and aesthetic that invites us to appreciate imperfection, impermanence, and the beauty of things as they are.

Through creativity, reflection, and meaningful conversation, you'll be invited to discover how even the parts of our stories we might wish were different can hold beauty, wisdom, and strength.

What to expect

In this workshop, you'll:

  • Break & create: Transform a broken ceramic bowl into a one-of-a-kind piece of art, with golden lines highlighting its repairs.
  • Explore a new perspective: Discover the beauty of Wabi-Sabi and how its principles relate to everyday life.
  • Reflect & connect: Explore themes of imperfection, resilience, and self-acceptance through gentle reflection and conversation.
  • Take home something meaningful: Leave with your own Kintsugi-inspired creation and perhaps a new appreciation for the story it represents.

Is this workshop for me?

Absolutely! No artistic experience or special skills are needed.

This workshop is for anyone who enjoys creativity, meaningful experiences, personal reflection, or simply trying something different.

Come on your own, bring a friend, or make it a unique date night. You'll find a welcoming, supportive environment where there's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with, and certainly no expectation of creating a perfect piece of art. That would defeat the purpose!

All materials are provided.

Come as you are. Leave with something beautiful, both in your hands and, perhaps, in how you see yourself.

Please note: Finished bowls are decorative and are not food-, microwave-, or dishwasher-safe.
